MAG520 and MAG520w3 are high-performance Linux set-top boxes based on the Amlogic S905X2 chipset. They have an ARM Cortex-A53 CPU that is 25% more powerful than previous MAG generation and a better GPU, which ensures smooth 4K video playback at 60 fps.

With MAG520, operators can guarantee uninterrupted service. Infomir's API ensures easy integration of the device into any project already using MAG set-top boxes. Integration of MAG520 and MAG520w3 with third-party middlewares and DRM/CAS is available upon request.

4K HDR and HEVC

MAG520 easily handles 4K HDR 60 fps content² and supports HEVC and other modern codecs enabling operators to deliver high-resolution content even over low-bandwidth networks. It takes a 32 Mbps connection to watch an H.264-encoded 4K video stream, while the HEVC-encoded one requires half as much bandwidth.³

Advanced API for apps and
integrations

Infomir has created an API to facilitate integration with CAS/DRM and app development. The apps for the Linux-based MAG set-top boxes are developed using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Infomir provides extensive documentation for developers' convenience.

There are no limitations as to apps' purpose: operators can make apps for their middleware, and system integrators can develop software for hotels, cruise ships, and rotational camps.

The MAG520 comes with an IR remote control included. The remote's body is made of anti-slip ABS plastic. Each key is designed to withstand 300,000 presses.

The remote's IR system and code pages are configurable: it can be reconfigured to not interfere with the operation of the TV, air conditioner, and other nearby devices.

USB ports for a keyboard and mouse

Unlike dongles, the MAG520 supports connecting peripheral USB devices: a keyboard and a mouse. These peripherals make it easier to use the browser, enter passwords, and find content in applications.

Does Infomir have a set-top box knowledge base?

We do, and we update it often. It contains all kinds of how-tos and answers to the questions about Linux, Android™, and Android TV™ devices, the Ministra TV platform multiscreen middleware, and the Ministra Player client app.

Operators will find there the guidelines for app development as well as MAG set-top box configuration and customization. All of this comes in handy for the operators' tech support to quickly resolve problems and configure their users' devices.

Does Infomir provide API documentation?

We do. In fact, our MAG JS API is fully documented. We have guides to show developers how to make apps for the MAG set-top boxes and do integrations with middleware, CAS/DRM, and other solutions.

It's a real time-saver for developers—they won't need to call tech support.

What is MAG520's default middleware?

By default, the devices are compatible with the Ministra TV platform and require no additional integration in the projects that run it. MAG520 is well-optimized to work with a variety of the platform's versions.

Can MAG520 be integrated with third-party middleware and CAS/DRM?

It can. MAG520 can be integrated with all kinds of middleware and CAS/DRM through its API.

Infomir is planning to roll out integration with the Widevine and Zixi CAS/DRM sometime in the future and offers Securemedia and Verimatrix integration on request.

For how long will MAG520 stay operational?

Like any Infomir device, the MAG520 set-top box is built to last years. It can run for months on end without rebooting, freezing, or breaking down. By choosing MAG520, operators get a reliable device that helps save tech support's efforts.

Where is MAG520 made?

MAG520 is designed and assembled in Odessa (Ukraine), where Infomir's headquarters are located.
