Media players help operators maintain a reliable service, while the UI continuity makes it easy to integrate the set-top box into a system that uses legacy MAG devices. On request, MAG522 and MAG522w3 can be configured to work with different middlewares or DRM/CAS.

Linux 4.9: the best set-top

Thanks to the Linux OS, operators receive a device where the UI and other components are tailored to meet the service’s needs. The release of new firmware further improves the device even after commercialization, thereby prolonging its life cycle.

HEVC and 4K HDR

MAG522 plays back 4K HDR video at 60 fps.2 It also supports HEVC and other common codecs, which helps transmit content in high quality with minimal network load—4K content after H.264 processing requires a speed of 32 Mbps, while HEVC needs only 16 Mbps.3

Advanced API for apps and
integrations

With a new Infomir API, you can easily integrate CAS/DRM and develop software. The user-friendly interface helps develop apps for Linux-based MAG set-top boxes as for web pages using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

The solution is suitable for everyone: operators create client apps for middleware, while system integrators release software. For example, hotels, cruise ships, and rotational camps.

MAG522 is easy to integrate into an existing project

Few resources are required to upgrade to MAG522. If the service is already running on MAG devices, then all integrations and apps for Linux set-top boxes by Infomir will work after minimal adjustment.

Universal technical support

Infomir provides technical support in English and Russian with different levels of the SLA . We are available for basic plan users free of charge from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. UTC+2.

Branding and customization

To promote their brand and make it recognizable, operators can order set-top box customization from Infomir: software, casings, packaging, and remote controls for their set-top boxes.

HoReCa solutions

You don’t need to connect MAG522/522w3 to the Internet. The set-top box plays back content from NAS servers and external media.

This option will be useful on ships and facilities where there is no Internet access. The device plays back videos from file storage, which is convenient for hotels and bars.

Eight-channel Dolby Digital Plus™

The set-top box offers a clear surround eight-channel sound thanks to the Dolby Digital Plus system. This sound quality ensures an immersive experience and makes viewers feel like they are starring in a TV show or movie.5

Remote control with convenient buttons

MAG522 comes with a modern IR remote control. The case is made of non-slip ABS plastic. The life cycle of each button is 300,000 clicks.

IR systems and code pages can be configured for the remote control. This feature is useful if there are other IR devices nearby, such as a TV or air conditioner. By using a different code page, the remote control won’t affect the operation of other devices.

USB ports for peripherals

MAG set-top boxes are compatible with wired and wireless USB devices. MAG522 supports keyboards, mice, and other devices. Use them to improve your browser experience, enter passwords, and find content in apps.1

What middleware is MAG522 initially compatible with?
